Goodnight Mr Tom sets the tonePosted on: 22/11/2018
Maidwell Hall saw the start of the WWI remembrance weekend begin with being transported to another war time era courtesy of the annual school play; Goodnight Mr Tom.
The play was wonderfully compelling and impressively acted, ensuring that there was hardly a dry eye in the house by the end. Guaranteeing that the wartime atmosphere was utterly convincing was the excellent make up, wardrobe and scenery, while the acting between the main parts ensured that the audience fully believed the relationships being portrayed.
Congratulations to Pete Edwins (Head of Drama) on setting the bar very high this year and achieving one of his greatest productions. Thanks also to James Brodie (Head of Art) for the very creative set design and Carey Lankester for yet another great year at the helm of the make up department. Tamsin Guard (Head of English) once again took on the role of Wardrobe Mistress seemingly conjuring fair isle knits and flat caps at every turn!
As one parent commented "Every year I don't think that the school production can get any better and every year I'm just amazed!".
Well done everyone involved in working together to make this year better than ever.
