After School Provision & Pastoral Care

The morning drop off begins at 8.15am, and the school day starts at 8.30am. Lessons finish at 3.15pm and after this time we offer a full list of after school activities, followed by care which is free of charge until 5.45pm, if required. The Pre-Prep day is designed to include flexible after school care arrangements for our pupils and deliver exciting opportunities for learning at the end of the day.

Our Pre-Prep and Prep teaching staff offer a wide range of Activities, aimed to inspire every child. Each day two will run simultaneously from 3.15 – 4pm and the children are invited to choose which one of the two they would like to take part in. These change termly and include:

Maidwell Maypolers
Garden Explorers
Arty Crafty
Wilderness Walkabout
Mini Netballers
Games and Puzzles
Mindfulness Colouring
Crafty Cross Stitchers
Little Learners
HIIt Fit

Two specialist chargeable Activities, taught by staff at the Northamptonshire School of Dance, are also on offer:

Street Dance

Children going home at 4pm are collected in the Pre-Prep garden, by the Lobby doors. At 4pm a healthy snack and drink are provided as an energy boost to children staying later, and our catering team meet the needs of children with specific dietary requirements. From 4.25 - 5pm a Late Activity will be provided by Prep staff, such as Cricket, Tennis, Football, and Ball Games and from 5 – 5.35pm the children will be free to play indoors or outdoors under adult supervision. At 5.35pm the children will be taken to the Library in the Prep school so that parents can collect their children outside the main entrance at 5.45pm. Please also note that Pre-Prep is part of Maidwell’s boarding community, so parents can feel happy in the knowledge that the school is always open during term time, and should there be an unforeseen problem with collection on a particular occasion there will be staff to look after your child safely until you arrive.

Pre-Prep staff are first aid trained and the children are also under the care of our fantastic School Nurse and a team of wonderful matrons. Our Senior Matron, Mrs Willis, organises school uniform, and sews name labels into items of uniform, including socks! She also washes the children’s swimming kits and waterproof clothing, which makes daily outdoor play in muddy puddles possible.
