Choosing the right school for our children can be tricky, as we all want the absolute best for them, but we would like to think that we can make that decision much easier for you, as Maidwell Hall is the perfect setting for children to learn and grow.
Please come to visit us in the first instance to see how magical Maidwell is. Simply call or email the school office, and the admissions staff will be delighted to arrange a visit and send you a prospectus: 01604 686234 / email@example.com. This visit will include a tour of the School and provide an opportunity to meet our Headmaster and Head of Pre-Prep.
During the year there will also be two Open Mornings, one for the Pre-Prep in October and another for the whole school in January. There will also be a special whole school Open Day in May.
Registering Your Interest
The majority of our pupils now join us in Reception, however children are most welcome at any stage, depending on a place being available. Where there is currently no availability, we operate a waiting list.
Parents who would like to register their child for next year’s Reception cohort are asked to do so at least a term before they begin.
To register your child, please complete ourâ¯Registration Form and return it toâ¯firstname.lastname@example.org, together with the non-refundable administration fee of £50. Available places will then be reserved.
If you require any assistance with the admissions process and would like to inquire as to current availability, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Pupil Assessment and Confirming Your Child’s Place
Children with registered places in the Pre-Prep are then invited to attend the next available Taster Morning, in early November or February, when they will spend time getting to know their future class teacher, fellow classmates and classrooms. They will also experience a typical family style meal at lunchtime in the Great Hall. Informal assessments will be carried out during the course of the morning.
Children entering the Prep school are required to attend an assessment morning. This is designed to provide the school with academic information about prospective pupils and to this end academic tests are sat. The school welcomes a broad range of ability and the entry requirements are based on an average IQ minimum. A strong learning support department enables the school to accept pupils with mild or moderate learning difficulties provided that other requirements are met. The assessment morning will also involve a brief interview with the Headmaster and a tour of the school with a contemporary pupil.
Following the taster and assessment mornings a formal offer of a place is likely to be made and requires completion of an acceptance form and the placing of a £500 deposit to secure the place. This must be paid within 30 days of the offer being made and will be deducted from the first term’s school fees. Please note, we are unable to refund the deposit if your child does not take up their place at Maidwell.
Children with confirmed places will be invited to attend a Move Up Morning at the beginning of July, when they will spend quality time with their new teacher and Maidwell friends.
During the term before commencement, new boarders in the Prep school are invited for an overnight boarding trial. Entrance scholarships are offered under the following categories: Academic, Sport, Music and Art. Fee Assistance may be provided on a means tested basis.
We look forward to welcoming you.
