Admissions Policy

Following an initial enquiry a school prospectus is sent out and a personal visit may follow.

Places may be reserved by the completion of a registration form and the payment of a non-refundable registration fee. Prior to the year of entry candidates are required to attend an assessment morning. This visit is designed to provide the school with academic information about prospective pupils and to this end academic tests are sat. The school welcomes a broad range of ability and the entry requirements are based on an average IQ minimum. A strong learning support department enables the school to accept pupils with mild or moderate learning difficulties provided that other requirements are met.

The assessment morning will also involve a brief interview with the Headmaster and a tour of the school with a contemporary pupil. Following the assessment morning the formal offer of a place is likely to be made and requires completion of an acceptance form and the placing of a £500 refundable acceptance deposit.

During the term before commencement new boarders are invited for an overnight boarding trial. Entrance scholarships are offered under the following categories: Academic, Sport, Music and Art. Fee Assistance may be provided on a means tested basis.
