Maidwell 2 Witham Hall 0
The Colts C's had a great first game of the season with a solid 2-0 victory over Witham. After a slow start, the boys picked up their game following two close-range goals by Maidwell's striker George Buxton. We went into half-time with a slim 2-goal lead. Despite no goals being scored in the 2nd half, the boys showed great stamina to hold onto their advantage, with some great performances by Humphrey Wakeham-Dawson in goal making some great saves as well as Oliver Brackenbury and Arthur Soames in the midfield with some great passes.
Maidwell 1 Stoneygate 1
The Colts C's travelled to Stoneygate where they would meet an evenly matched side. Maidwell started slowly and a lapse in concentration led to an early goal by Stoneygate. This shocked Maidwell into action and their confidence and passing improved, which ultimately led to a goal by Arthur Soames with ten minutes left in the half. Maidwell were conceding possession and territory in the second half but there was some good tackling by George Plant and some steady defence by Max Pettifer and Felix Holland-Bosworth stopping Stoneygate from scoring again with the final score being 1-1.
Maidwell 0 Bedford 4 The Colts C's had a tough game against a well-drilled Bedford C's side going down 4-0. The boys started poorly letting in a soft goal within the first few minutes but got better as the game went on. Possession and territory were against them through out the game and only some good defending by Leo Chilton-Faull and Will Shields-Porterfield stopped a whitewash by Bedford. Good games were also had by Harry Hill and George Buxton.
