v Stoneygate
Maidwell 3 Stoneygate 5
It was a tough beginning to the season; Stoneygate were out of the blocks quickly and the boys were one down. Arthur Margetson put the boys level with the opening goal of the year. The Maidwell boys tired towards the end of the half and Stoneygate took advantage scoring three more times for the boys to be down four to one at half time. The second half started with renewed enthusiasm as Hugo Webber scored twice but Maidwell were unable to bring the scores level. It was a great game and the boys never stopped trying, they can look forward to the rest of an enjoyable season.
v Swanbourne
Maidwell 1 Swanbourne 2
For this week’s football, the Maidwell U10’s made the long trip to Swanbourne for a highly competitive game. The Maidwell boys made a great start to the game when striker William Trudgill came out firing to score the first goal of the match, a quite difficult shot from the side. Maidwell kept possession of the ball for much of the half before a lucky goal went to Swanbourne to even out the half time score to 1-1. The second half was even more competitive with both teams trading shots at the goal throughout the half. After Swanbourne kicked their second goal of the day Maidwell struggled to keep possession of the ball and from a great effort by the whole team, they kept out the strong attack of the opposition to finish with a close score of 2-1. Congratulations must go to the Maidwell 10’s for playing so well and showing great teamwork and sportsmanship throughout the game.
v Spratton
Maidwell 1 Spratton 1
For this football fixture the Maidwell Hall Colts C made the short journey to Spratton. The Maidwell boys came out fighting in the first half, with Toby Phillips scoring the first goal of the game about midway through the half. Even though Maidwell was struggling against a hill and the wind in the first half they were able to finish it with a level score of 1-1. This was due to Cassion Ferrari and his brilliant goal keeping along with the Maidwell's dogged defence. The second half showed off some great football with both sides trading shots at goal. By the end of the second half both teams had remained level. It was a shame that the Colts Cs couldn’t win the match as they played very well together in a brilliant game of football. |
