Match Reports

V Swanbourne House

Maidwell 59 for 1
Match won by 9 wickets
Swanbourne 58 for 5

Maidwell won the toss and put Swanbourne in on a lively grass pitch. In their allocated 20 overs Swanbourne scored 58 for 5 with George Broughton taking 3 for 12. The fielding and catching was outstanding and contributed to a low Swanbourne total. Maidwell reached the winning total inside 14 overs with Charlie Fletcher scoring an unbeaten 35 and Nick Bell contributing 19 not out.

V Stoneygate

Maidwell 162 for 3 Stoneygate 53 for 8

Maidwell dominated this 25 overs match. After winning the toss and batting, the home side reached 162 for 3 with Charlie Fletcher scoring an unbeaten 58. William Playne put together a very tidy 45n.o. Stoneygate never got going as a result of accurate bowling and excellent fielding. Every person, except the wicketkeeper, bowled and still Stoneygate could only reach 53 for 8. Maidwell won comprehensively by 109 runs.

V Stamford

Maidwell 185 for 3 Stamford 77 for 7

Maidwell dominated the game against an understrength but spirited Stamford side.
Maidwell won the toss and batted first in conditions that threatened rain. Mercifully the heavens didn't open and the home batsmen reached the very respectable total of 185 for 3 in their 25 overs. The innings was dominated by James Cleverly who batted the full 25 overs for his undefeated 63 and Edward Fenner, who was playing his first game for the Colts A, scoring a robust 59. Together they put on 125 for the 3rd wicket. Stamford struggled against accurate bowling and reached 77 for 7 in their 25 overs. Angus Norman was the pick of the bowlers taking 3 for 6. Maidwell ran out comfortable winners by 108 runs.

V Spratton Hall

Maidwell 105 for 8 Spratton 106 for 7

This is a match that was there for the taking but Spratton proved to be the more resolute team on the day and the match was lost. In the allocated 25 overs Maidwell scored 105 for 8. Nick Bell with 23, Edward Fenner with 19 and Charles Fletcher with 46 not out, set the side up for a big total, but accurate bowling and poor batting from the middle order, saw us finish on 105 for 8, at least 20 runs short of an acceptable total in the conditions. The bowling was not accurate enough to defend a small total and some big hitting saw Spratton home with the loss of 7 wickets. Edward Ashton Johnson was the exception to the rule taking 3 for 9.

V Bilton Grange

Maidwell 108 for 0 Bilton 107 for 3

Maidwell won the toss and put Bilton into bat. Tight bowling restricted the visitors to 107 for 3 in their 25 overs and Maidwell scored the required 108 to win inside 13 overs without losing a wicket. Nick Bell scored 49 not out and James Cleverly 46 not out.

V Great Houghton

Maidwell 160 for 9 declared Great Houghton 98 all out

Maidwell batted first and the top order strugged on a slowish grass pitch and at one stage were 30 for 4. William Playne and George Broughton steadied the ship to allow the lower order of Edward Ashton Johnson 18, Louis Hilton 12 not out and some big hitting fron Julian Martin Smith 36 not out, aided by Eric Extras 40, to reach a respectable totoal of 160. Great Houghton never looked like reaching the total but did get to 98 before being dismissed. Julian Martin Smith took 3 for 16 to complete an excellent match for him. Charlie Fletcher bowled well to take 3 for 20.

V Akeley Wood

Maidwell 123 for 6 Akeley Wood 120 for 3

Akeley Wood won the toss and batted first. Maidwell limited them to 120 for 3 in the allocated 25 overs which was probably 30 short as the outfield was very fast and the boundaries were still in from the previoius night's 20/20 match. Chasing 121 to win proved an easy task with James Cleverly again batting the whole 25 overs to score 47 not out. Charlie Fletcher scored an excellent 33 and Edward Fenner contributed 22. Maidwell reached the target in the 16th over.
