MAIDWELL HALL

Boarding and Day School for Boys and Girls Aged 7-13

Religious Studies

All pupils are taught Religious Studies for two periods per week. RS teaching focuses on the teaching of the Holy Bible. During their five years at the school they will become familiar with the major stories and events of the Old Testament and with the life and teachings of Jesus Christ from the New Testament. In their first two years pupils will use the Lion Children’s Bible as they become increasingly familiar with these stories and teachings.

In Form III (year 6) we study other world religions and specifically Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism and Buddhism. During Forms I and II (years 7 & 8) the course focuses on the Common Entrance syllabus and the general Bible knowledge that is required. This involves applying the teachings of the Bible to the modern day and the contemporary issues to which they relate. The Common Entrance syllabus also requires knowledge and understanding of other world religions.
