On Tuesday 10th October we were treated to a fascinating
illustrated lecture by Roger Weatherby. He told us the story
of Captain Scott's fated expedition to the South Pole and how
he and three other friends followed the same route to the
South Pole at the end of 2005 and beginning of 2006. They
used all the same type of equipment and ate much the same
food as Scott's group, and we heard about some of the
considerable difficulties they faced. Mr Weatherby showed
us some amazing photographs and he brought with him for
us to see much of his clothing and equipment. |
