Maidwell 1 Akeley Wood 6
A tough first game against a competitive and football savvy U12A team. We conceded three quick goals in the first half through sloppy defending, but managed a goal back through Sam Holland-Bosworth. We then conceded three more in the second half, one a harsh penalty, another a breakaway after Henry Keith had hit the post.
Maidwell 2 Bedford 1 A very competitive game with two equal teams. We stepped up and were more physical in the tackle area and scored a goal in each half: the first from Alberto Serrano and the second for Crispin Jolly.
Maidwell 0 Swanbourne 1
A frustrating afternoon when we had the lion's share of possession, but never looked likely to score on a very small pitch. We had some good chances in the first half with the strong wind behind us, but could not convert. Swanbourne won the match with a break away goal early in the first half.
Maidwell 2 Stoneygate 2
A frustrating afternoon where we won on shots on goal by about 30-4, but could not find the target, through not striking the ball hard enough and from some good saves from the opposition man of the match goalie. We led 1-0 through Miles Stevenson, but then found ourselves behind with 5 minutes left. Thankfully Johnny Beck Brown popped up at the far post to score our equaliser. We pressed hard, but sadly we didn't quite have the ability to get another goal. Still, a pleasing effort when you consider we used 16 players altogether from the 2nds and 3rds. |
